You can customize the code of a theme yourself. With knowledge of web development, languages like Twig, HTML and CSS, you can customize most parts of your eCom store. The developer documentation can be found here (available in English only).

Theme developers are constantly updating their themes. When you first click on Edit code, eCom will create a new local theme based on a copy of the theme's original code. Since you are working on a copy of the theme's code, updates to the original theme's code will not be applied. Restore the original theme code to get updates again.

  1. In your eCom admin, go to Design.

  2. Click ADVANCED on the right side of the screen.

  3. Click Edit code.

  4. A pop-up will appear, click on Edit code.

Help from our Support Team

Our Support team is dedicated to helping you with your eCom store. Editing your theme's code can lead to design or functionality issues. When this happens, our Support team may not have the development knowledge needed to fix the problem in your code. In these cases, they may recommend the following:

  • Contact a third-party developer to resolve the issue.

  • Restore the original theme code

Restore the original theme code

You can undo the changes and restore the original theme code by reinstalling it from the Theme Store. All theme settings will be replaced by the new theme's default settings. Read Selecting a theme for more information on how to reinstall a theme.
