In general, the less information your customers have to provide, the easier it is for them to create and pay for accounts. Increase the amount of information required only when necessary from a business perspective. Lightspeed's default settings make it easy for your customers. Continue reading if you need to:
Require stronger passwords
Require address details

Require stronger passwords
You can adjust the settings to require your customer's account password to be more complex. This setting makes password creation easier and provides more password security. Only change this setting when required.
All password strengths require a minimum of 5 characters. The password strength Normal is the default option and has no additional requirements. The Strong option requires an extra digit. The Strongest option requires both an extra number and a special character.
Log in to your eCom Back Office and click Settings.
Click on Advanced under the column General Settings .
Scroll down to ACCOUNTS & SERVICE and select Strong or Strongest.
Click on Save.
Require address details
When a customer creates an account, you can choose whether to accept his/her address details. Changing these settings will not affect your checkout. The default setting is Optional.
Log in to your eCom back office and click Settings.
Click on Advanced under the column General Settings .
Scroll down to the section REGISTRATION and select Required from the dropdown menu labeled Address Information.
Click on Save.
Prevent login via Facebook
To make it easier for customers to log in, eCom stores are set up by default to allow customers to log in with their Facebook credentials. This option may be less appropriate for some businesses, such as eCom business-to-business stores. To disable this, do the following:
Log in to your eCom back office and click on Settings.
Click on Advanced under the column General Settings .
Scroll down to the STORE section and uncheck the Login with social media option.
Click on Save.
Customize fields in the checkout and account creation form
You can adjust which fields your customers are required to fill in. Any changes you make here will affect customer account creation and checkout. The default settings are:
Switched off
Date of birth
Chamber of Commerce number
Sex
insertion
Social Security Number
Optional
Company details
Mobile number
Necessary
telephone number
Region (optional for European stores)
To change these settings, do the following:
Log in to your eCom back office and click on Settings.
Click on Advanced under the column General Settings .
Click on a customer data and drag it to the correct column. Repeat until you are satisfied.
Click on Save.
Check email addresses more closely
By default, your customers only need to enter their email address once. You can check email addresses more rigorously by requiring customers to enter their email addresses twice.
Log in to your eCom back office and click Settings.
Click on Advanced under the column General Settings .
Click on the dropdown menu Email and select Double at the top of the page in the section CUSTOMER NAME & ADDRESS.
Click on Save.
Require a VAT number
Only for merchants selling to European companies
When you engage in B2B trade, you can ask companies for their VAT number. The default for this is Disabled. You can make it mandatory or optional. You can also guarantee that the number is entered in the correct format.
Log in to your eCom back office and click Settings.
Click on Advanced under the column General Settings .
Click on the dropdown menu Tax ID (VAT ID) and select the desired tax option at the top of the page in the section CUSTOMER NAME & ADDRESS.
Click on Save.
REMARKS:
The VAT ID field only appears when Company Information is Optional or Required and select a customer Company in the Customer type field.
When verification is set, spaces in the VAT ID field are not accepted. According to the European Union website, VAT numbers have spaces in the United Kingdom, France and Denmark. If you sell products to companies in these regions, it is not recommended to use the verification option.
