Manage customer privacy requests

Under privacy legislation, your customers can submit a request to receive, edit or delete their personal data. These requests can be processed within your eCom back office.


IMPORTANT: Use caution when performing this work. Providing personal data to the wrong party can be considered a data breach under privacy legislation. The same applies to deleting customer data. This is permanent and cannot be reversed, so please ensure that you do not need this information for legal, tax or payment processing purposes in the future.

  • Verify the identity of the person making the request.

  • Find the personal data you need to keep in your situation.

Processing customer requests for personal data or deletion

  1. Log in as a store owner to the eCom Back Office.

  2. Select Customers.

  3. Select the name of the customer making the request.

  4. Click Download customer to download the information Lightspeed owns or

  5. Click Remove customer to permanently remove his information from Lightspeed.

Processing data modification requests

If a customer submits a request to change his/her personal data, you can process this request by making changes to his/her data in the eCom Back Office > Customers. Click here for more information.
