It's a good idea to think about whether your business would benefit from listing legal terms and conditions on your eCom store. This includes, for example, terms of use, privacy policy, a return and refund policy, cookie policy and other disclaimers with legal information. We recommend that you seek the advice of a lawyer to determine what might be right for your business.

There are several websites that offer templates with terms and conditions for free or for a small fee. Pay close attention when you use the uniform terms and conditions on these sites. These terms and conditions are not a substitute for legal advice specifically tailored to the risks within your sector.

Although Lightspeed does not endorse or recommend these types of sites in any way, here are some examples of these sites by country:

  • EU, United States, Canada and Australia - You can find free templates for all legal documents at TermsFeed.com. You can also integrate a link into your web pages for a one-time payment. This will automatically update the terms and conditions when TermsFeed changes.

  • Netherlands- For example, you will find excellent general terms and conditions (including delivery conditions) at Thuiswinkel.org and ICTrecht can help you with a free withdrawal form via the right of withdrawal generator. The Authority for Consumers & Markets has a good general checklist that will bring you as a web retailer completely up to date about the legal rules that apply to web shops. Webwinkelkeur offers a good example for this: Example Privacy Policy.

  • Belgium - For Belgian general terms and conditions, privacy policy and a disclaimer and a legal checklist, take a look at: Unizo.be. This information is available in multilingual format.
