There are a number of different payment methods that you can offer in your eCom store. North America has 6 payment methods, Australia has 4 and Europe has more than 35 payment options. Depending on your location and size, you can choose to connect directly to banks or choose a payment provider.

In Europe, owners have the option to use a payment option called iDEAL. This allows customers to pay directly from their bank. This option is not available in North America and Australia.

Using iDEAL is considered a good option for smaller eCom shops with low monthly sales or less than 300 products. 70% of your customers would prefer to use iDEAL when making a purchase.

For eCom stores in North America and Australia, you must select a payment provider that is available in your region.

Larger European eCom shops must also select a payment provider in addition to iDEAL. Your shop is considered a large eCom shop if it has more than 300 products and you expect a lot of turnover every month. Payment providers offer lower rates due to agreements made by Lightspeed. They also meet the needs of international customers and those who prefer to pay with PayPal or credit cards.
