When you set up an online store, you need to provide your customers with a method to pay for their orders. This requires you to sign up with a payment provider, connect the payment provider to eCom and configure additional settings. This article discusses the general steps to follow. Find instructions for your specific payment provider for specific details if they are available.

Watch a video below on how to add payment providers.

  1. Sign up with a payment provider for your region.

  2. The payment provider will provide you with the required login details, keys, etc. to connect. Select settings in your eCom administrator once you have received them.

  3. Under Payment settings, select Payment providers.

  4. Select Add payment provider.

  5. Select the tile of the payment provider you are a member of.

  6. Keep the switch from activate this payment provider to off until you are ready to show it to your customers.

  7. Keep the Visibility set to Consumers and B2B.

  8. In the PROVIDER SETTINGS section, add the connection details provided by the payment provider.

  9. Activate the payment method that corresponds to the account of your payment provider. Read more about Manage payment methods.

  10. Configure optional additional settings if desired.

  11. When you are ready to make the payment methods visible in the checkout, enable the payment provider. Most providers have a switch at the top of the page.

  12. Select Save.

Connection details

The second section for all payment providers is PROVIDER SETTINGS. The required settings differ based on the payment provider. If the codes for connecting a provider do not work, contact the payment provider to verify this information. Read your payment provider's help documentation for specific details. Some examples are:

  • Mode: when you test a payment method, switch to the Test mode. Depending on the payment provider you use, you will receive special test codes. When your store goes live and your customers can make purchases, switch to Live mode.

  • Account, API key: some payment providers connect you via certain keys. You need to add this key here to connect.

  • Notification URLs: Notification URLs for European payment providers.

Notification URLs for European payment providers.

Some payment providers require URLs, such as 'success', 'notification' and 'error', to connect payment methods. You can find these URLs in the left menu of the back office via Settings > Payment settings > Payment providers. You can find the URLs on the overview page of your payment methods.

NOT required for North American stores!
